NBC Sports and Overtime Air OT7 Championship Weekend Live on NBC and Peacock
NBC’s new play‑by‑play voice, John Fanta, will call the action. The former Fox broadcaster joined NBC last August after a seven‑year run with the network’s sports division. Fanta has already covered a spectrum of events—from Football Night in America and NBA play‑by‑play with Jamal Crawford to the Kentucky Derby in‑field commentary and MLB Sunday Leadoff reporting. In February, when he debuted on the NBA stage, he told Awful Announcing that NBC executives Sam Flood, Rick Cordella, and Elyse Noonan had promised to keep challenging him. “This is why I joined NBC Sports,” he said, explaining that he had turned down an offer from Barstool’s Dave Portnoy to focus on building a linear television profile.
Joining Fanta on the broadcast team is sports‑content creator Kieran Hickey‑Semple. Sideline reporting will be handled by former USC and Vanderbilt quarterback Mo Hasan and Overtime chief growth officer Tom Weingarten.
OT7, Overtime’s seven‑on‑seven low‑contact high‑school football league, has entered its fifth season and has already proven to be a launchpad for future NFL talent. Three alumni were taken in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft: wide receivers Carnell Tate (Titans), Makai Lemon (Eagles), and KC Concepcion (Browns). Other former OT7 players include Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith, who earned unanimous All‑American honors last fall, and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.
The championship field will feature 19 five‑star recruits spread across eight teams. Standouts include the C1N squad, coached by 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton, and the Wunna Warriors, founded and coached by Grammy‑nominated rapper Gunna. The No. 1 recruit in the class of 2026, Houston quarterback Keisean Henderson—who earned MVP honors at the Navy All‑American Bowl—will also be expected to play.
The partnership between NBC and Overtime was first announced in April, covering both OT7 and the Navy All‑American Bowl. On Tuesday, the two companies added a new initiative: an All‑American Girls Flag Football program that will recognize top high‑school flag football players and feature them in the OT7 championship weekend in 2027.
By broadcasting OT7’s postseason and championship games, NBC is stepping into a segment that has traditionally been underrepresented on national television. The move expands NBC’s sports portfolio into the high‑school football market and provides a platform for emerging talent while opening a new audience for the network.
As the weekend approaches, teams are sharpening their strategies for a series of high‑stakes matchups that could shape the future of college and professional football. Viewers will witness the next generation of players in action, while the partnership underscores Overtime’s growing influence in sports media.
The OT7 championship weekend will conclude on Sunday, June 14, with the title game airing at 2 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the entire event on NBC and Peacock. The collaboration also signals NBC’s continued commitment to expanding coverage of emerging sports formats and youth talent pathways.
