RFK Racing has secured the future of its Cup Series flagship with a multi‑year extension for driver Chris Buescher, ensuring the No. 17 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will keep racing under the team’s banner through 2024 and beyond.

The 33‑year‑old has been a fixture with the organization since 2009, and the renewed deal keeps him behind the wheel after the current contract was set to expire at the close of the 2024 season. Buescher entered the Roush driver‑development program in 2009, captured the 2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with the team, and has now completed nearly 400 Cup starts.

His résumé includes six career Cup victories – five of them earned while driving for RFK – and a full‑time run in the No. 17 since the 2020 season began. Those achievements have made him a central figure in the team’s recent successes.

"RFK Racing has been home for most of my racing career, and that’s something I don’t take for granted," Buescher said in a team release. "I’ve grown up with this organization, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together over the last several years. The direction we’re heading, the people we have in place, and the commitment throughout the company make me excited about the future. I’m grateful to Mr. Jack, Brad, Fenway Sports Group and everyone at RFK Racing for their belief in me. I’m looking forward to continuing to chase wins and championships together."

At present, Buescher is the sole RFK driver inside the Chase, with ten races remaining in the regular season and a solid seventh‑place standing. He has also delivered five of the team’s last six Cup Series victories, including a three‑win campaign in 2023 that no Roush driver has matched since Matt Kenseth’s performance 14 years ago.

"Chris has been part of this organization for most of his professional career, and there is a tremendous amount of pride in seeing what he has become," said team founder and co‑owner Jack Roush. "He is an exceptional driver, but just as importantly, he is the kind of person who makes our organization stronger. His work ethic, intelligence and commitment to our success have earned the respect of everyone at RFK Racing, and we’re proud that his story with us will continue."

Co‑owner and teammate Brad Keselowski added, "Chris is everything you want in a race car driver and teammate. His talent behind the wheel speaks for itself, but what really separates him is his professionalism, preparation and commitment to making everyone around him better. He’s been instrumental in the progress we’ve made as an organization, and we’re excited to continue building toward our goals together."

RFK Racing – officially Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing – has long been a staple in NASCAR. The team, which has always fielded Ford vehicles, runs the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Brad Keselowski, the No. 17 for Chris Buescher, the No. 60 for Ryan Preece, and the part‑time No. 99 for Corey LaJoie. It also operates Roush‑Yates Engines, supplying power units for most Ford teams in the sport.

The extension arrives as RFK Racing concentrates on preserving its competitive edge in the Cup Series. With Buescher’s experience and recent performance, the organization aims to build on the momentum from the 2023 season and pursue further victories and championship contention in the coming years.

By confirming Buescher’s role as the No. 17 driver beyond 2024, the deal signals RFK Racing’s confidence in his ability to contribute to the team’s long‑term objectives. The organization will continue to monitor his performance as the regular season advances toward the Chase.

As the Cup Series heads into the final stretch, Buescher’s position as a Chase contender and key contributor to RFK Racing’s success will remain a focal point for fans and analysts alike. The team’s leadership has expressed optimism about his future, and the extension provides a clear path forward for both driver and organization as they chase additional victories and championship aspirations.
